BIODIVERSITY CLUB

The Biodiversity Club of the college mainly aim to equip younger generation to create biodiversity awareness in community and the protection, preservation and management of natural resources. The club undertakes and support activities like nature camps, biodiversity awareness programmes, initiatives & competition for students.

Inauguration of Biodiversity club of our college was held on 21st July 2020 at 10am on Google Meet. The programme consist of two sections, an inaugural section and an interacting section. The inaugural section was commenced with welcome speech by Priyanka( Staff coordinator of biodiversity club), inaugurated by Prof. K. V. Mohanan  (Patron, GM foundation of Calicut University) Felicitation by  Principal Dr. Hussain Randathani, Prof. Hamza (Head of Department of Botany). Interactive section was highlighted with the talk by K. V. Mohanan on the topic “Gregor Mendel and his contributions”. 20th July was Gregor Mendel’s birthday.  We celebrated it along with inaugural function.

Second section was very effective; students get familiarized with Gregor Mendel, who is the father of modern genetics and his contributions in science. Gregor Mendel discovered the basic principles of heredity and variation through experiments in garden. After the talk students put forward some ideas to conserve nature and natural resources. The programme was concluded by the vote of thanks was by Thanveera Nasrin.

Report on the activities on ozone day -2020

“OZONE FOR LIFE”
Biodiversity club-2020
Biodiversity club of CPA college of global studies celebrated world ozone day 2020 on 16th September 2020 at 2pm at google meet. Teachers and students (60 members) are actively participated in the function.
Programme was inaugurated by Sri. E. Rajan (Kerala Biodiversity board, Trivandrum). He stressed the importance of Ozone layer and Ozone day. Thanveera Nasrin( 3rd semester Zoology) welcomed the gathering. Asst. Prof. Priyanka (Coordinator, Biodiversity club) chaired the programme. After that our beloved principal Dr. Hussain Randathani delivered a message to create awareness among public as well as students about the ozone layer depletion and its impact on global climate. It is followed by the wishes from our Asst. Prof Hafeezudheen (Staff secretary).
Prof Hamza (HOD, Botany) introduced our chief guest Rajan sir; he explained the achievements of his lfe. After that our chief guest made an elaborated talk on ozone and why we celebrate ozone day on every year 16th September. The section was very interesting and informative with very fantastic live presentation. He cleared all the doubts regarding the “ozone and what will be impact of human action on environment”. Finally the programme was concluded by the vote of thanks by Fathima Hiba (3rd Semester Zoology). The whole programme compering was done by Thanveera Nasrin.
We celebrated OZONE WEEK (Sept 16th, 17th and 18th) with some competitions. Winners are listed below.
